We have progressed as a society but something that can never leave us, is our old-world charm and the extensive prevalence of art and culture. Rajasthan, with all its diverse traditions, cultures and colours, is definitely, one of the art and architecture hubs of India. More often than not, one experiences a constant nostalgia in this state, even if they are first timers. One such city which can transport you to a different era with its royal charm and ancient beauty is Udaipur. Known as the Venice of East, this city of lakes will appeal to your mind and soul. So let’s take a tour: City Palace: Constructed in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh Mirza, this palace reassures Rajasthan’s status as one of the architecture hubs of India. Incorporating European and Chinese styles of architecture, City Palace will leave you in awe of its beauty and grandeur. There are awe-inspiring hanging gardens, museums, pavilions, auditoriums etc., inside the palace. Take a stroll around the palace and allow yourself to get engrossed in its architectural beauty. Stand in one of the tremendous balconies and soak in the dreamy aura of the Lake Pichola by the palace. Also, take a ride to history by visiting the museum of the palace. Lake Pichola: This man made lake is one of the highlights of Udaipur. Surrounded by palaces, ghats and hills, lake Pichola will take your breath away. You can spend your time photographing the beautiful surroundings, or you can just sit by the lake and watch the sun go down as the sky and the lake turns orange-hued. In the evening as the entire city lights up; the lake and the palaces by it, are a sight to behold. Take a boat ride across the lake in the evening and feel your heart swell with gratitude. Note: This blog would have been incomplete without the soul of all these palaces, Lake Pichola.   Lake Palace:  Situated in the island of Jag Niwas, this is one of the most grand and marvelous palaces of Udaipur. A famous wedding and photography destination, this palace was constructed by Maharana Jagat Singh II in 1746. Take a stroll around this historic and heritage site. Have a luxurious Rajputana meal and enjoy the sun setting across the lake. In 1960, it was acquired by Taj Hotels and converted into a luxury hotel. Not only is it famous among tourists but also among Bollywood and Hollywood filmmakers. Lake Garden Palace: Believed to have been the served as the inspiration for the Taj Mahal, this palace is surrounded by Lake Pichola and lush green garden. Also, this palace is said to be the symbol of friendship between the Mughals and the Rajputs. Enjoy a quintessential Rajasthani thali at the restaurant, take a stroll around the gardens and visit the palace museum. While Udaipur has many other marvelous and historic locations, we believe these define the beauty of the city. These palaces will appeal to your senses in different levels.
