Winters are quite cold in Chandigarh, especially during night time when temperatures could drop below zero and get quite foggy. It is a good time for sightseeing. Winter is also the season of some of the famous festivals of Chandigarh. November is the time of the Chandigarh Carnival, an initiative for artists belonging to different fields to showcase their creativity. This is held every year at the Leisure Valley. February is the month of the Festival of Gardens, a perfect time to experience the city's culture through dance, music and a plethora of other activities.
Monsoons bring lush greenery to Chandigarh making it a delight to be outdoors. The weather is good to tour around except for occasional heavy downpours. You may want to check the weather forecast before planning.
Summers in Chandigarh see temperatures rangin between 25°C and 37°C. May and June are quite hot though the weather is pleasant due to rains and thunderstorms on and off. The gardens are all filled with variety of flowers during this season. The locals celebrate Baisakhi with great zeal in the month of April.

By Air:
Chandigarh airport is well connected to various parts of India through the flight network. Domestic flights from major cities of India like Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Srinagar, and Goa to Chandigarh are available.
By Road: Chandigarh has an excellent road connectivity with neighboring cities and states. NH-1 connects Chandigarh with Delhi, a route that takes around 4-5 hours.
Bus services are available to explore the hills places of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand as well as Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir. From Chandigarh, you can reach places such as Shimla, Dehradun, Mussoorie, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Delhi, Kullu, Dharamshala, and Mcleodganj.
Most of the state transport buses of The Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) operate from Sector 17 an 43 in Chandigarh. Many private bus operators also ply buses from neighbouring states.
By Rail:
The Chandigarh Junction railway station (CDG) serves the union territory of Chandigarh. It is about 8 km from the city centre. Its extensive train network has frequent trains that connect the city to other cities of India. The Jan Shatabdi, Shatabdi, Himalayan Queen, Paschim Express, Chennai Express, Sadbhavna Express, Kerala Sampark Kranti are some of the known trains that come to Chandigarh from across the country.
