Winter in Bihar is from November to mid-March. This is the most pleasant season for a trip to Bihar. The days are warm mmaking it comfortable to be in the outdoors and tour. There are many festivals in the state during this season to experience.
July to September is the monsoon season in Bihar. Avoid visiting the northern parts of the state at this time since they are prone to flooding. The southern parts of Bihar are pleasant during monsoon since the rain is not continuous. The retreating monsoon between September and November causes cyclones, though not major.
Summers in Bihar are pretty hot and temperatures in May go upto 50°C sometimes. It is not the best time to be outdoors.

By Air:
Bihar has two major airports at Patna and Gaya. The Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport is situated in Patna, while the Gaya International Airport is situated in Bodh Gaya. These airports are well connected to cities across India. There are cabs and local transport available from the airport to the city.
By Road: Patna is well connected by road. NH31 passes through Patna and Danapur and also branches into Barauni and Nawada. It is also well connected to Bodhgaya and Rajgir within the state as well as to cities in the neighbouring states like Ranchi and Siliguri. Intra-state travel is very convenient due to the good road connectivity.
By Rail:
Bihar's state capital, Patna has an excellent rail network and is connected to most Indian cities like Dellhi, Mumbai, Guwahati, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Varanasi and Chennai to name a few. Within Bihar, besides Patna, many other cities like Gaya, Samastipur, Nalanda and Barauni among others have good railway stations, making rail travel within the state easy.
